Family Therapist

After my bachelor’s degree at the University of Liverpool, I become a trainee social worker in Buckinghamshire, later gaining my professional qualification at the University of Edinburgh. I gained a wide experience including adult mental health, children in care, family and foster care support, and adoption.
I later chose to specialise in what became known as Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services (CAMHS), receiving further training in which I qualified as a Family Therapist at the Family Institute, Cardiff. I was a practitioner throughout, as well as functioning as a team manager, working first in a rural county and subsequently in a London borough.
I have been in private practice for the past 10 years working with individuals, couples and families. I have actively sought to stay up-to-date and to develop my knowledge and skills, undertaking further training in hypnotherapy, arbitration, schema therapy, and various models of couple therapy.
In my work I try to offer a good balance of appropriate seriousness as well as lightness of touch. While listening intently, I also offer a great deal of encouragement, and look to identify and utilise the strengths and resources in my clients.
